Can remember mums boiler only too well. Everything got done in that, washing, dads homemade beer etc. The best thing about mums boiler was Christmas, mum use to make her own christmas puddings along with her christmas cake. That smell was awesome. She had one prime tool to go along with her boiler, a boiler stick. This was made of beech , eighteen inches long and bleached because of the years of use. Mum only had one boiler stick and she only got rid of that because of getting a washing machine. Christmases were never quite the same after that.
