I still miss these so much! When I was young mum use to make her own faggots, she use to visit Stan Butts the butchers in Bedminster for her ingredients. Whenever she made faggots my brother and sister would sometimes help her. It was great fun, we got to turn the mincer, mincing the ingredients. Mum would remove the gristle and we would turn the handle. She made loads of faggots, often they would last for days, could only eat one as they were quite big, mum didn't do small. Dad use to have the most along with a huge pile of potatoe, ofter on a meat carving dish. He also had butter beans with it too, which I did not like the texture of. If we had had a fridge or a freezer at the time, these would have been quite economical. I have had quite a few faggots over time, none have ever matched mums.
