Jumble sales

Oh I hated these, often mum would drag us around several often they were held in church halls scout halls etc. The only incentive mum would have for us to go along was toys and comics. More often than not dad was either a bed or down the pub so we had to go along, we had no choice. Mum would always go with her shopping trolley, the main reason she went was for clothes, often she would get us to try things on and all that we were interested in was the toys and comics, she always knew where to find us. One day my brother wandered off outside, he was only three or four, that caused a panic, we found him outside but safe. The thing I use to hate most about jumble sales was the queues, when you are only young in a adult world it can be quite frightening. Mum always got us home safely, we were always made to be polite when we were out. I have mum to thank for that.
